The 11th ranked USAO Drovers (18-1, 2-0 SAC) swept the SAGU Lions (11-9, 0-2 SAC). In game 1 the Drovers would come out on top with a 9-1 win and in game 2 they would finish off the sweep with a 8-1 win.

Game 1: Drovers Use Strong 4th Inning To Top The Lions

In the conference opener the Drovers beat the Lions 9-1. The Drovers offense was silenced until the 4th inning when they scored 8 of their 9 runs. The USAO offense collected 8 hits on the afternoon led by FR. Brock Henderson who was 2-3 with a single, double (4) and 2 RBI’s, Miguel Lorenzo went 1-3 with a single, P.J. Garcia went 1-4 with a single, Alex Sanchez went 1-2 with a single, Brandon Shumway went 1-1 with a single, Luis Pelayo went 1-3 with a double (7) and Daniel Lafarga went 1-3 with a double (4).

The Drovers sent Jean Mutaner to the mound, who was dominate for the Drovers, throwing 6 innings allowing 0 runs on just 2 hits. Mutaner finished the day with a season high 10 strikeouts. With the win he improves his record to 5-0 and is holding opponents to a .158 batting average. The Drovers called on Miles Robertson to shut the door and he did did the job. Robertson pitched 1 inning allowing 1 run on 2 hits and 2 strikeouts.

Game 2: USAO Close Out Sweep Over SAGU

The USAO Drovers beat the SAGU Lions 8-1 and improve there winning streak to 11 games on the season. The offense caught fire as they would combine for 12 hits on the afternoon. They would be led by Brock Henderson and Ian Laureano. Henderson went 3-4 with 2 singles and a double (5). Laureano went 3-4 with 2 singles and a double (4), P.J. Garcia went 2-4 with a single and a double (6), Luis Pelayo would go 2-3 with a single and a triple (4) and Daniel Lafarga went 2-4 with 2 singles.

The Drovers got a good start from Coleton Williams as he would throw 5 innings allowing 1 run on 4 hits and 9 strikouts, bringing his season total to 30. With the win Williams improves to 4-0 on the season. The Drovers sent Matt Merrill to the mound in relief, throwing 2 innings and allowing just 1 hit to the Lions with 3 strikeouts.
