Baseball: Drovers Are Heading To The Bowling Green Regional

The USAO Drovers are heading into the opening round of the NAIA regional. They will be heading to the Bowling Green, Kentucky Regional. The Drovers are led by head coach Mike Ross, who has coached USAO to a 45-6 record on the season, where they were co-champs of the SAC conference and SAC conference tournament champs. Just a year ago, the Drovers went to the Bellevue regional in Nebraska where they would win that regional, and advance to the NAIA World Series.

Bowling Green regional break down

1. USAO Drovers

The Drovers are currently ranked 8th in the NAIA polls. The Drovers pitching staff is controlled by two strong lefty’s, in Jose Hidalgo and Francis Ventura. Hidalgo is 9-2 with a 2.01 ERA, with 88 strike outs in 67 1/3 innings. Ventura is 9-0 with a 4.37 ERA, with 61 strikeouts. The offense is led by P.J. Garcia, who is hitting .405 with 7 home runs and 45 RBI’s. The Drovers most underrated player, is catcher Coleton Horner, who is hitting .391 with 5 home runs and 36 RBI’s. Horner also has accounted for 12 doubles on the season.

2. Campbellsville Tigers

The Tigers are currently ranked 21th in the latest polls, and are sitting at a record of 36-15. The offense is led by Matthew Valdez, who is hitting .364 with 18 doubles, 12 home runs and 35 RBI’s on the season. The pitching staff is led by D.J. Wilson, who is 5-1 with a 0.55 ERA, and has collected 33 strikeouts in 32 2/3 innings. Wilson is holding opponents to a .094 batting average.

3. Reinhardt Eagles

The Eagles are currently not ranked, but they have a 38-17 record on the season. The Eagles pitching staff is led by Dylan Powers, who is 10-3 with a 2.79 ERA and has 76 strike outs in 84 innings on the season. Powers is holding opponents to a .259 batting average. The offensive side of the ball is led by Daniel Rodriguez, who is hitting .343 with 12 doubles and 7 home runs. Rodriguez is 13-17 on stolen base attempts on the season.

4. Bellevue Bruins

The Bruins are also unranked, and they have a record of 37-21. The Bruins offense is led by Kory Longaker, who is hitting .394 with 15 doubles and has connected for 8 home runs on the season. Longaker is 20 of 23 in stolen base attempts this season. The Bruins pitching staff is carried by Jarrod Molnaa, who is 6-0 with a 2.00 ERA, and he has thrown 45 innings and has sat down 44 via the strikeout. He has held oppenents to a .190 batting average on the season.

5. Midland Warriors

The Warriors are also unranked, and they have a record of 32-20 on the season. The Warriors offense is led by Armando Fajardo, who is hitting .356 with 11 doubles and 3 home runs on the season. Fajardo has also tacked on 22 RBI’s. The pitching staff is lead by Billy Brand, who is 4-1 with a 0.64 ERA, with 38 strikouts in just 28 innings pitched. Brand is holding oppenents to a .156 batting average, and has only allowed 7 walks on the season.
