Baseball: Drovers Get Back To Winning Way

The Drovers successful bounced back, following a series loss to the Oklahoma City Stars. The USAO Drovers beat the Friend Falcons, 7-6. With the win the Drovers captured there third straight 30 win season as they move to 30-6 on the season. The Friend Falcons drop to 26-12 on the season.

The USAO bats would put together 11 hits, as they were led by P.J. Garcia. He would go 3-5 with 3 singles. Miguel Lorenzo would to 2-5 with 2 singles. Henry Rodriguez would go 2-3 with a single and a double. Daniel Lafarga went 1-3 with a single. Coleton Horner went 1-5 with a triple. Xavier Sundman went 1-4 with a double. Stevie Thompson went 1-3 with a double.

The Drovers got a high quality start from Stephen Wright, as he would go 6 strong innings, give up 3 runs on 7 hits. He would also finish with 4 strikeouts on the afternoon. Wright moves to 3-1 on the season. The Drovers would use 3 relievers in this contest, Rudy Gonzalez, Corey Korenic and Angel Reyes. Gonzalez would throw 1 inning, give up 1 runs on 1 hit. He would end up with 3 strikeouts. Korenic would throw 1 inning, allow just 1 hit with 3 strikeouts. Angel Reyes would come in and close the door, going 1 inning, giving up 2 unearned runs with 2 strikeouts. With this save, Reyes now has 11 on the season.

Infielder P.J. Garcia said “It was a team win, Stephen gave us the opportunity to win with how well he pitched. Played well all around. We just have to continue to trust the process.

Pitcher Stephen Wright said “We didn’t play our best baseball today but good teams find a way to win regardless and that is what we did today.”
