The USAO Drovers were fortunate enough to sweep the Sooner Athletic Conference player of the week awards. The Drovers would go 3-0 on the weekend in a good series with Wayland Baptist. The Drovers move to 27-4 on the season and 14-1 in conference play.
The pitcher of the week went to Senior Jose Hidalgo, from Tijuana, Mexico. Hidalgo threw 7 solid innings, giving up 1 run on 5 hits. He would also finish with just 3 strikeouts. Hidalgo would pick up his 5 wins in 6 appearances. Hidalgo moves to 6-1 on the season and now has a 1.80 ERA in 45 innings pitched.
The offensive player of the week went to Junior Coleton Horner, from Turlock, California. Horner went 5 for 9 with 2 doubles and a home run. He would also finish with 5 RBI’s on the weekend. Horner has a team best .492 batting average and he has now raised his total to 3 home runs on the season.
Head Coach Mike Ross said “It’s deserving after the week they had in Plainview. Jose threw a great game for us and Horner was clutch at the plate.”
