Softball: NAIA Recognizes USAO’s Clifton For National Player Of The Week

In the past week Senior Chloe Clifton not only got Sooner Athletic Conference player of the week, but she earned NAIA player of the week. In Clifton’s past week, she went 11-22 (.500), hit 2 home runs, and finished with 15 RBI’s on the weekend. Clifton led the Drovers to a perfect 6-0 record, including all 6 being conference wins. With those 6 wins that pushes the Drovers to 30-1 on the season, and in the latest rankings USAO jumped to the 2 spot.

Not only was this weekend great for Clifton, but her season has also been superior. She is currently swinging the bat with great authority, as she has collect a hit in 24 straight games. On the season Clifton is hitting .426, 5 home runs, and 47 RBI’s. She currently ranks 2nd in RBI’s only behind Jolena Shield from Mount Mercy (Iowa.). Clifton has also hit 12 doubles on the season, which is ranked 8th in the NAIA.

Clifton has proven to be one of USAO most effective pieces on the offensive side of the ball, as last season he was awarded the newcomer of the year.

Assistant Coach Kayla Adams said “As a coach, Chloe Clifton is everything you look and search to find in a player. Clifton knows the game, adapts well, and is a leader in her own way. Her charisma as a player is contagious to our team, as well as her fight and desire to win. Chole rises in pressure situations by producing at the plate and bringing in runs to help further her team in success. She as made her mark and will continue to do so throughout the rest of her senior year. I am proud of her and cannot wait to see what the future holds for her.”

Head Coach Jadyn Wallis said “Chloe is the root to the success we have enjoyed this year. She is a great example of what a student-athlete is suposed to be. She is a clutch player with her hitting and has the ability to make things happen on the field by finding ways to win. I am so proud to be her coach and I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for her.”
