Boys: Chicks Comeback Falls Just Short

The Chickasha Chicks got beat by the Newcastle Racers, by the score of 65-63. The leading scorer for Chickasha was Ethan Christian who would finish with 17 points and 6 rebounds. The Racers were led by Blaize Driskill who scored 13 points and had 9 rebounds.

1st Half:

The Chicks got off to a slow start in the first quarter, only putting up 10 points. The Chicks would later lose the quarter 15-10. In the first quarter the Chicks had 5 different players that had 2 points each. The Racers were carried by Zack Munoz, he had 6 points during this quarter. The second quarter was again won by Newcastle, 24-13. During this frame, the Racers would go on a 11-3 run over a 4 min span. In the second quarter we would also see the games largest lead. The Racers extended the lead to 19 points with the score of 42-23. During this quarter, the Racers got 5 points from Driskill and Gage Pittman who had 6 points. The Chicks were led by Christian, who would score 6 points during this quarter. In this frame, the Chicks shot 6/7 (86%) from the charity stripe, while the Racers shot just 8/11 (72%).

2nd Half:

The Chicks would come out of the locker room ready to go. They would win the 3rd quarter 16-15, to make the deficit 15. In the 3rd frame the Chicks were supported by Logan Johnson who had 6 points in the quarter, including 2 three-pointers. The Racers were carried by the 3-pointer in this quarter making 3 of them. The 4th quarter was when the momentum shifted. The Chicks would win this quarter 24-11. The Chicks would go on a quick 12-3 run to cut the lead to 5. The Chicks were led by Christian and Jordan Jackson. They each had 7 points in the quarter. The Racers were inspired by Solomon Granger. He would have 6 points during this quarter.

Final Thoughts:

The Chicks would finish shooting 13/15 (86%) from the free throw line, while the Racers shot just 11/19 (58%). The Chicks would finish with 9 turnovers, while the Racers had 11 on the night. The Chicks fall to 3-5 on the season, as the Racers improve to 3-5.

Player of the game:

Ethan Christian- He had 17 points and 6 rebounds. Christian also shot 7/7 from the free throw line.

What’s Next:

Chickasha- The Chicks will play Kingfisher (#1) next Tuesday, at 8:00PM in Chickasha.

Newcastle- The Racers do not play again until January 4th in the Ada tournament.
