In the opening round of the Louisville regional, the Oklahoma Sooners beat the Xavier Musketeers 7-2. All of Oklahoma’s runs came in the 7th inning, the Sooners scored 7 runs on 7 hits. The bats for the Sooners gathered 10 hits, led by Cade Harris, who went 2-4 with a single and a double. Jack Flansburg, went 2-4 with a single and a double. Domenic Derenzo, went 2-4 with a double and a triple. Renae Martinez, went 1-4 with a single. Steele Walker, went 1-4 with a single. Austin O’Brien, went 1-4 with a single. Brylie Ware, went 1-4 with a single. The Sooner got an impressive start from pitcher Devon Perez, who went 7 innings, giving up 2 runs on 6 hits. Perez also struck out 7 Xavier hitters. The relief pitcher was JB Olson, he went 2 innings, giving up 0 runs on 3 hits.
The Musketeers collected 9 hits, led by Rylan Bannon, who went 3-4 with 2 singles and a double. Will Larue, went 2-4 with 2 singles. Nate Soria, went 2-4 with a single and a double. Connor Grammes, 1-3 with a single. Mitch Gallagher, went 1-4 with a single. The starting pitcher for Xavier was Zac Lowther, he went 6 1/3 innings, giving up 3 runs on 4 hits.
