The Chicks traveled to Cushing to take on the Tulsa Central Braves in the regional championship game. The Braves would come into this game ready to play. Elijah Landrum would score 18 points in the first period including 3 three pointers. The Braves would end up going on an 11-0 run to end the 1st quarter and the Chicks would lose the first quarter scoring 27-4.
The second quarter would mostly be back and forth scoring until late in the 2nd period when the Braves would go on a 8-2 run to put the score at 45-14 at halftime. Chickasha’s leading scorer was Magyver Boles who had 6 points.
During the 3rd quarter, the Chicks would go on a 15-2 run, after 2 three’s from Caleb Crowder, to make the score 51-31. The Chicks would later win the quarter scoring 17-10, to make the score 55-31.
Toward the middle of the 4th quarter the Braves would go on a 11-3 run, to make the score 70-39. The Braves would win the 4th quarter scoring 19-13. Tulsa would capture their 16th win of the season beating Chickasha by a score of 74-44.
Senior Caleb Ross said “I thought in the first half we were getting open looks but not converting them. But in the second half we played hard and together as a team and started to hit shots and play aggressive defense. What we need to do better is hit shots early and get an early run.”
Player of the game:
Elijah Landrum- Landrum had a good game scoring for 26 points and shot 10/17 from the floor.
What’s next for both teams:
Chickasha- The Chicks will play Seminole on Thursday at 3:00 pm in the Stillwater Area tournament.
Tulsa Central-The Braves will play Harrah on Friday at 8:00 pm, for a Chance to go to State.
