Chicks handed first loss of the year by Hirschi

On the final day of this tournament, the Chicks took on the Hirschi Huskies. The Huskies were led by 6’4 Senior Trae Jones and 6’3 Junior Javen Banks. Jones had 16 points and shot 6/11 from the field. Banks also scored 16 points and shot 7/13 from the field and grabbed 6 boards. The Chicks were led by 6-1 Senior Brock Henderson who scored 34 points and had 4 assists and recorded 4 steals. Caleb Crowder scored 11 points and also hit 2 three-pointers.

The Huskies nevered trailed in this game even extended the lead as big as 13. At the end of the 1st quarter, the Huskies led 22-16.

In the 2nd quarter, Henderson scored 13 of the 15 points that were scored for the Chicks in this 2nd period. The Huskies extended the lead into double-digits, but the Chicks fought back behind Hendersons 3 point play and 4 free throws.

The Chicks put a late rally together, but only got within 6 of the Huskies. Crowder scored 7 of his 11 points during the 3rd quarter. But Trae Jones and Rashad Green switched the momentum, with Jones making 2 three pointers and Green making 1 three.

The 4th quarter was filled with long Huskies possessions.  The Huskies won the quarter scoring 12 points. Javen Banks scored 6 points in the period. Crowder tried to pull the game close after a three pointer off of a Henderson assist but it didn’t help them. In the end Hirschi proved to be just too much for the Chicks, closing out the game with a 65-53 victory.

Player’s of the game:

Javen Banks- Had a good game scoring 16 points and shot 7-13 from the field. And also grabbed 6 boards.

Trae Jones- Had a good game connecting for 4 three pointers, 2 in the first half and 2 in the second half.
