College Football Playoffs semifinals Fiesta bowl

Dabo Swinney’s Tigers (12-1, 7-1 ACC) are in the playoffs for back to back seasons after beating Virginia Tech in the Acc title game. Quarterback Deshaun Watson had another standout game throwing for 288 yards with 3 touchdowns and also ran for 85 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Urban Meyer’s Buckeyes (11-1, 8-1 Big 10) were still able to get into the playoffs without winning the Big 10 east division. Ohio State does have a good resume beating top 10 Oklahoma in Norman, and other wins over Michigan and Wisconsin.

What to know about Clemson:

Clemson has had a season with only suffering one loss to Pittsburgh 43-42 on a game field goal. Unlike Ohio State, Clemson hasn’t been in any Playoff atmosphere’s. The Tigers are a very balanced team averaging 40 points per game and holding opponents to 18 per matchup. The Tigers are led by Junior quarterback Deshaun Watson who had a great year throwing for 37 touchdowns and 3,914 yards. Wayne Gallman is the key player for the running back core scoring 15 touchdowns with 1,000 yards. The leader of the receiving core is Mike Williams who has caught 10 touchdowns with adding 1,171 yards. Now onto the Defense for Clemson, Carlos Watkins leads the team with 8.5 sacks and 41 total tackles. The leader of the linebacking crew is Ben Boulware, who has 9 tackles for loss and 105 total tackles.

What to know about Ohio State:

Ohio State has had a good season suffering only one loss as well, losing to Penn State 24-21. Ohio State has played in two games this season that had the effects of the Playoff atmosphere.   They went to Norman and beat the Sooners 45-24 and then beat Michigan in double overtime 30-27. The Buckeyes have a lot of weapons on both sides of the ball, including J.T Barrett throwing for 24 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. The leader at the running back spot is Mike Weber, he has 9 touchdowns and also has 1,072 yards. The leader of the wide receiver core is Curtis Samuel who has 7 touchdowns and also has 822 yards with and average of 13 yards per catch. Who has the edge?

Offense: Clemson: I think the Tigers have a lot of key weapons on the offensive side of the ball.

Defense: Ohio State: This defense has scored 7 times on defense and they have a lot of key weapons like Hooker and Lewis.
