The Thunder are sitting at a 16-12 record and 7th in the western conference. Russell Westbrook has been a key factor for the Thunder and a front-runner for the mvp. Westbrook is having a year to remember averaging almost 1/3 of the teams points per game, averaging 31 points per game and 11 assists and 11 rebounds. Westbrook isn’t the only player on the team though we also have Victor Oladipo who is averaging 16 points per game. Enes Kanter who is averaging 13 points and 6 rebounds per game and Steven Adams with 12 points and 8 boards per game. Oladipo has been battling a right wrist sprain for the last 4 games and since he’s been out the Thunder have went 1-3.
Westbrook will have his hands full in the month of January having to face the Clippers the 16th, the Warriors the 18th and the Cavaliers the 29th. The Thunder are sitting at the number 9 spot in the power ranking just in front of the Celtics. But after hosting the Hawks on Monday, they will play 14 of their next 18 games on the road with only four single-game homestands over a six-week stretch. The Thunder have proved they are a very inconsistent team this year but they still have Russell Westbrook.
Westbrook has been playing at a very high level with stats that put him at the MVP leader at this point. Westbrook is also averaging a triple – double. There has only been one other player, Oscar Robertson who averaged 31 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists during the 1961-1962 season.
